Even though you can configure the 2020 Gladiator to your heart’s content, Jeep hasn’t published the pricing for the five trim levels on offer. The list starts with the Sport, continues with the Sports S, Overland, and tops with the Rubicon off-road pickup truck.
What do you get as standard in the Gladiator Sport? For starters, Trail Rated capability thanks to the Command-Trac two-speed 4x4 system, removable top and doors, lockable rear seat storage, a steel bed and three-position tailgate, ParkView reversing camera, as well as programmable auxiliary switches.

17-inch wheels painted in black, air conditioning, cloth-wrapped bucket seats with manual adjustment for the driver, and the 5.0-inch Uconnect 3 infotainment system are also standard. Leveling up to the Sport S adds silver-painted aluminum wheels, power windows, heated mirrors, locking doors, and tailgate, plus remote keyless entry.

It’s from the Overland upwards that things get interesting, starting with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 18-inch Crystal aluminum wheels, and body-color fender flares. The Rubicon needs no introduction, but if you insist, Jeep describes the range-topping trim level as “the most off-road capable mid-size truck ever.”

If you drop “mid-size” from that statement, you'll get the Ford F-150 Raptor. On a somewhat related note, does that mean Jeep is 100-percent confident the Ranger Raptor has nothing to show the Gladiator Rubicon off the beaten track?

The 2020 model year is available with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 without the eTorque mild-hybrid system we know from the Ram 1500. Be it the six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic, the six-cylinder engine is much obliged to produce 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

Later on, the Gladiator will be available with the new and improved 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, paired exclusively with the eight-speed transmission. The oil-chugging engine develops 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Depending on configuration, the Jeep pickup truck can tow up to 7,650 pounds. Maximum payload capacity, on the other hand, is rated at 1,600 pounds.

Look forward to the Gladiator arriving at dealers in the U.S. in the second quarter of 2019.
