Today, it’s the Toyota Isis, a seven-seater large MPV built under contract by Kanto Auto Works. It was launched in 2004, available with front- and four-wheel drive, offered with either a 1.7-liter or a 2.0-liter gasoline motor. Transmission options include a 4-speed automatic and a CVT.
The semi-ugly MPV was named after Isis, the Egyptian goddess for religious belies, who’s views in ancient mythology as the ideal mother and wide. So, perfect name for a caring, sharing MPV.
Right, that’s the boring part done, time for the silly commercial. This features Japanese singer Misia and her feel-good tune “Holiday” and starts out with the B-pilar evaporating as a bunch of butterflies. This isn’t a new feature, as the Isis has always had sliding doors in the back and regular one in the back, locking together, like on the Ford B-Max. Toyota calls this feature a “Panoramic Door”, and it’s interesting to note this is 8-year old technology.
