Before there ever was a Jay Leno’s Garage, the TV comedian and gearhead crossed paths with one Paul Annunziata, a mechanic who wanted to bring Mopar drag racers to the street. And he did this by turning a pro-stock Plymouth Duster into what you see.
He mated a body-in-white chassis of the 1975 Duster with a 426 Hemi V8 from a Super Bee, then adding a huge Roots blower to take things over the top.
Both the rear axle and the engine bay had to be extensively modified to turn the car into what it is today, but the interior is still fully functional, which is amazing considering the massive amount of mods that have been made.
Annunziata passed away of lung cancer and he wanted to give the car a good home. Leno took it for free but donated its worth as a scholarship for the younger generation who wanted to learn auto mechanics and restoration.
