Jay Leno Woke Elon Musk Up to Buy a Tesla Model S, Says It’s a Fun Car to Drive

Jay Leno won’t drive a car if it’s not fun to drive, that’s quite evident. Since he spent the last few years telling stories about each of his zillions cars in front of the camera, it’s only natural he’ll try to make a cool tale about his Tesla Model S purchase. Oh, and the car is blue, by the way.

Long story short, Jay meets Elon to talk about the Tesla Roadster, seven years ago. They exchange phone numbers, of course, while the Tesla Motors CEO tells the car fanatic he could call him anytime. Fast forward today, and the former The Tonight Show host calls him for a new story at the EV maker’s HQ in Fremont. Here’s where things get funny.

You see, it may have been an early afternoon in the US, but Musk was in China when Leno called, and he was asleep. So, to make up for the intrusion, the television star decides to buy a new Tesla Model S. Funny? It better be amusing at least, considering this was not really how things went on.

Bottom line, Leno is back - on the telly, that is. It’s an adaptation of his already-famous Jay Leno’s Garage YouTube show, only that it sees the TV star once again working with an old time network. As you probably remember, Len was the host of NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 1992 to 2009. With an on-again, off-again relationship, he left the network on February 6, 2014, when his last episode aired.

Jay Leno online auto show has also been quite successful by itself, having almost 1,4 million subscribers and over 171 million views. That never stopped Leno to ask for more, as he made the announcement several months ago. Now, an official date was set: the new TV show running on CNBC Prime will debut on October 7th.
