Jay Leno's 2016 Restoration List Goes from a 1914 Detroit Electric Restomod to a 1971 Porsche 911T

The aftermarket scene is still extremely shy when it comes to electric cars, and if we are to talk about restomod EVs, the air becomes even more rarefied. Still, such projects do exist nowadays, as Jay Leno demonstrates in his latest video.

With tons of work required to keep the man's incredible car and motorcycle collection in check, the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage talks about the projects that currently keep his team of specialists busy. As we don't expect these people to work overtime through the holiday season, we seem to be talking about 2016 projects here.

The restomod job mentioned above targets a 1914 Detroit Electric, which will receive a new electric motor offering around ten times the original power. Right now, you might be wondering about the electron juice necessities of such a motor. Well, these will be covered by installing a battery pack borrowed from a Nissan Leaf.

EVs aside, this preview allows us to see Leno getting excited about 270 non-SAE corrected horsepower. Sure, that might not sound like much, but when we're talking about an early Hemi V8 powering the man's Cunningham, things take a whole new turn.

This is also a good occasion to see the famous aficionado's dyno room, which makes a great team with his CNC milling machines and 3D printers.

Porsche fans will be thrilled to find out Leno is taking good care of an almost-abandoned 1971 911T, a Beverly Hills car that simply deserves more attention than it used to get.

As you can expect, there's more than one motorcycle that is set to receive restoration attention next year.

Despite the man's heavy showbiz history, you can see him struggling to tone down the tons of presentation details as he jumps from one project to another, which only goes to show how deep his love of motorized contraptions is.
