Passionate owner of a huge collection of motorcycles and cars, it was time that TV star Jay Leno went a bit on the electric side, too, so here's a nifty showcase video of him and a 2012 Brammo Empulse R electric bike.
Among all the battery and efficiency-oriented upgrades Brammo have made for their motorcycles, the "proper transmission" is by far the most important step. Unlike most other electric motorcycle manufacturers out there, Brammo realized that one of the key elements which really matter when riding a bike is shifting.
So their new generations of e-bikes come with a proper 6-speed gearbox, rev indicator and liquid-cooling, offering a much superior sensation of really being in full control over the power delivery. As Leno reports, the new Brammo Empulse R feels much like a traditional bike in terms of operation and shifting, but with the added silent operation and instantaneous thrust available when throttling right off idle.
