Jay Leno Checks Out Amazing All-Original 100YO Race Car

Before Jay Leno started his car show, everybody would wonder why he spends all that money on old bangers when he could be buying the latest and greatest supercars. But that’s kind of missing the point of being a collector, having something that’s brand new, off the factory floor with little to no history.
Take this 1911 Franklin Model D race car that Jay spotted at Pebble Beach. The car is in completely original condition, meaning nothing has been restored. Despite having wood frame, wood wheels and solid tires, it could race across the desert at 85 mph.

The engine a straight-six which looks like its made from motorcycle components because it’s air-cooler with the exhaust valves at the bottom and at the top. The cooling fan is behind the engine instead of in front of it.
