TV host and personality Jay Leno usually spends his free time with Italian exotics or rare coachbuilt cars from the 30s, so it’s kind of rare to see him test drive something designed to be affordable.
The car in question this week is the Scion FR-S, and since it’s new to Leno, it comes to the garage accompanied by Jack Hollis, VP and General Manager of Scion, who’s wearing a t-shirt and jeans on for added impact.
Jay says he was a fan of the Celica and the MR-2, and says he finds the heritage and the classic look in the FR-S. Leno seems to be sold on the boxer engine, the manual gearbox and the 200 horsepower in a fun, lightweight chassis.
Interestingly, even though it was built by them, the Scion official never really mentions Subaru when it comes to the chassis or the engine, which is a bit of a shame.
