Jamiroquay frontman Jay Kay is very well known in the UK, both for his musical talent and flair, and his undying passion for automobiles. Of his car collection, we need to mention his Lamborghini Miura which was featured on an older episode of Top Gear, and another very interesting one, his 1955 Maserati A6G/54, a car with a name even more confusing than the latest McLaren.
The car has a custom aluminium body by Zagato and is one of only 60 ever built, easily putting it into the ultra-rare category. Engine wise, the car is powered by a twin cam 2-liter straight-six unit which developed a respectable (for the capacity and the era in which it was built) 150hp, giving it a top speed of 210km/h (131mph). Due to its aluminium body and tubular spaceframe construction, the car is extremely light, tipping the scales at 840Kg (1851lbs).
Rumors have been circulating that Jay may be getting rid of his prized Maser at this year’s edition of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and is expected to fetch between €1.2 and €1.6 million ($1.5 - $2 million), so if you’re ultra-rich, go right ahead and buy it – no modern car will ever come close to it in terms of exclusivity, and if you are ultra-rich, then exclusivity is what you’re after, anyway.
