The motorsports world is getting ready for the 2010 Race of Champions, an event which will take place in Dusseldorf at the end of the month. The race, which promises to be quite a moment to look forward to, has already cause agitation for those who plan to take part, with more than one famous name promising to attend.
Among them, this year's British Touring Car champion Jason Plato will team up with Andy Priaulx under the colors of Team GB. The two will race against icons like F1 stars Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel and Alain Prost, Sebastien Loeb (seven-time world rally champion), Mick Doohan (five-time world motorcycling champion, 500cc class), Tom Kristensen (eight time Le Mans winner) and Travis Pastrana (needs no presentation).
“It’s been a great year for me on the track and it meant so much to clinch the BTCC title again after a gap of nine years,” said Plato, a man known to us all if not from the racing world, than from the shows he hosted over the years.
“Now my next step is to head to Düsseldorf to slug it out with this amazing field of legends. Everyone says it’s just for fun but in the ROC Nations Cup Andy and I will do our best to battle not just for the pride of Britain but the pride of tin-tops.”
This is pretty much the lineup until now, but we expect more motorsports icons and legends to confirm their entries as the start date of the event approaches.
