Jason Bourne Is Back and So Is the Car Action

It's still got that European vibe about it, thanks to the scenic locations and some of the best British and French actors around. But there's a scene in Las Vegas that really caught our attention.

Jason highjacks a SWAT armored car and plows through an entire street, throwing cars around like they were pieces of paper. It kind of reminds us of the zombie apocalypse truck with a nose cone that the Mythbusters had built a while back. It also shortly shows a Dodge Charger (not a Hellcat, an older model).

It's been nine years since the last Jason Bourne movie featuring Matt Damon. Universal is so sure people forgot about the old ones that the 2016 blockbuster is just called "Jason Bourne." But actually, the plot is set 12 years into the future because the last movie, released in 2007, was set in 2004. This would explain why the character has aged so much.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Matt said the new movie finds his character resuming his search for answers about the past. “We find him in a dark and tortured place,” he adds.

Unfortunately, the Athens night riot scene in the first act of the movie does not include car action but stolen police motorcycle action. The amnesic spy has spent most of his time learning how to deck people with one blow, not perfecting his Mini Cooper handbrake turns. But there's plenty of time between now and July 29 for a few surprises to come out of post production and be presented as a second trailer.
