Japanese Newspaper Announced Nissan Leaf Price

As some automakers are getting ready to launch their all electric vehicles, more and more people are showing interest in such vehicles. One of the most important models coming this year is the Nissan Leaf.

According to Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shimbun, the price for the EV in Japan will be somewhere between 3.5 million and 4 million yen, which is about $38,667 to $44,191 U.S. at today's exchange rates. Even if this price is accurate, it doesn’t mean that the US price will be the same, but still the Leaf seems expensive. Even with the $7,500 federal tax credit, the car would cost more than $30,000.

A lot of people will be interested in this EV, as Nissan states the car can easily accommodate five adults and can run for 100 miles (160 km) on a full charge. The key to this intriguing operational range is the new regenerative braking system designed by the Japanese carmaker.

The Nissan Leaf will be available to consumers via lease or sale, in a single transaction that includes the battery. At the same time, the Japanese carmaker is also debuting its global marketing campaign, called "The New Car."

"The Nissan LEAF purchase process is effortless, transparent and accessible, offering value with a one-stop-shop approach for everything related to the car, including the assessment, permitting and installation of in-home battery charging units," said Carlos Tavares, Chairman, Nissan Americas. "We want everyone to feel good about having a car that is affordable, fun to drive and good for the environment."
