The Ford Mustang came with a sweet deal back in the day - great looks, straightforward mechanics, affordability and a coupe body. This translates into the pony car class which soon started to grow on both local market and around the world.
Toyota itself spawned such a car in 1970 when the first generation Celica GT entered production. You could say it was the Japanese Mustang if you took a quick look at its shapes, mind you it was coming in both coupe and fastback bodies.

But it lacked something important to become a real one - muscle. The puny 2.2-liter engine was the biggest you could get one with. Luckily though, the engineers left enough space under the bonnet for somebody to mount a V8 in there.

Say a Lexus SC400 4-liter fuel injected V8 engine, which this guy put in his Celica GT Fastback and bolted it to a rebuilt 4-speed automatic transmission and a Chevy rear differential.

The suspension was borrowed from an AE 86, which means this thing can really drift, while fresh Frost Lime Green Camaro painting, shaved parking lights and the rest of the JDM accessories are a safe bet it will turn heads.

And you don’t really need to be jealous here, because this V8 restomodded Celica GT Fastback can be yours for about $15,000.
