Japan: Star Wars Robots Promote Prius Plug-In

On a scale of 1 to 10, Japan’s commercials usually go up to 11 for their weirdness, and this one is no exception. To promote their latest car, the Prius Plug-in Hybrid, Toyota used a couple of legendary robots that supposedly also need a quick charge.
Japan is a creative nation that has given us galactic robots that fight with laser beams called Gundam, the Asimo robot, nursing robots, robots that look like sexy women and robots other such mechanical contraptions, belong both to reality and science fiction.

But for a bit of comical relief, Star Wars’ R2-D2 and C-3PO arrive on the scene. However, they are both slightly different from the Hollywood movie originals and speak Japanese.

Here’s a rough translation of what they are saying:

C-3PO: R2, is this your plug?
R2-D2: Bip Bip (No)
C-3PO: Then who’s is it?... Oh so, it’s for the car!

They also promote the fact that the Prius PHV will be fine even if you can’t plug it in because it’s a hybrid and also runs on gasoline, unlike the two robots. This will either go down really well or catastrophically bad with Star Wars fans, and we’re inclined towards the latter.
