Eric Marlon Bishop, the American actor, singer, and comedian also known as Jamie Foxx, has proved everyone that he’s a hero not only in his movies but also in real life, even though he insists that he isn’t. The actor saved a man from a burning car after the vehicle crashed outside his home in Los Angeles.
Helped by another man, Foxx used EMT scissors to break the truck’s window to be able to get the driver out. “I don’t think of it as heroic, I just did what I had to do. I climbed in and tried to hit his seat belt, but he’s huddled over it, so I grab the scissors and cut the seatbelt. [...] We pull him out and as we pull him out, within five seconds later, the truck goes up,” the actor described his courageous act to local media.
Jamie told the California Highway Patrol that he heard the accident and then a person screaming from the overturned vehicle, and called 911, as Safety for Citizens reports.
Ventura County firefighters and paramedics arrived on the scene and transported the victim to the hospital where he was found to have a broken collarbone and a punctured lung. After further investigations, the Police revealed the driver was charged with Driving Under Influence.
When the victim's dad visited Foxx at his estate, the actor shared a very emotional picture on his Facebook account saying, “Met the father of the young man from last night today. That is all that matter. That a man, a son, a brother’s life was spared last night. God had his arms wrapped around all of us....No heroes....Just happy fathers.”
After leaving the house, the victim's father told the reporters that “It doesn’t matter to me who it was or what they do for a living. Just the idea that someone would do that is so much more than I could fathom.”
