James Stewart Wins in Seattle

52,683 supercross fans were present at Seattle’s Qwest Field on April 16 to view the 15th round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship. San Manuel Yamaha’s James Stewart clinched the victory in Seattle from Kevin Windham (Honda) and Chad Reed (Honda).

Ivan Tedesco (Kawasaki) won the Holeshot with Stewart and Reed following close behind. In the front corner, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto crashed and was forced all race to recover the positions he lost due to this misfortune.

TwoTwo Motorsports/Bel-Ray Racing Honda’s Chad Reed passed Tedesco and was leaving the impression he could pull away from James Stewart. However, track conditions were harsh and Reed made a slight riding error allowing the Yamaha rider to take the lead and eventually the victory.

Tonight was awesome,” said Stewart. “I had fun all day. I thought the track was awesome, it was so tough. I was just trying to stay consistent because I knew it was going crazy behind me. You can look out there and see how rough it is, but my San Manuel Yamaha was working awesome. I’m looking forward to Salt Lake City.

Second place went to GEICO Honda’s Kevin Windham while in third place finished Chad Reed who managed to defend his position against Ryan Villopoto’s assertiveness.

Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto has a slight advantage in the overall rider’s standings with only two rounds to go before the championship comes to an end. Villopoto leads the field with just 6 points from Reed, 7 from Dungey and 9 from Stewart.
