James May, or Captain Slow as he was named by former Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond, isn’t that slow in reality as he recently got caught speeding in London immediately after buying himself a new Honda CBR600RR.
Earlier in August, Captain Slow tweeted to inform his followers he just got a new motorcycle and got busted for speeding in less than 16 miles. Later on, he posted a map that showed the point where he pickup the bike and the one where he got clocked for speeding. The funniest part is that it’s less than a mile between the two places.
The former Top Gear presented said that he will be taking a speed awareness course rather than have points on his license. He didn’t say how fast he was going, but the limit of that stretch of road si known to have been recently brought down from 40 to 30 mph (64 to 48 km/h).
This makes us think he was going at least 50 mph (80 km/h), which, lets be hones, you don’t really perceive how fast you are getting to that speed on a sportbike like the CBR600RR.
“It's a fair cop. I try to respect speed limits and rules in urban areas,” May told Daily Mail. “Out on the motorways and in the country it's a bit different, but I try to abide by the rules in the city. I was caught this time. That stretch of road used to be 40 [miles per hour], but they recently brought it down to 30.”
Another tweet from James joking about the incident shows an image of the ‘customer feedback’ section from the speed awareness course he took, with him thanking them for the experience.
