Prisoners star Jacob Benjamin “Jake” Gyllenhaal is playing the role of a young man who finds himself wrapped up in the world of L.A. freelance crime journalism, in the newest movie "Nightcrawler". As a reporter of action and drama, Gyllenhaal’s character drives a popular muscle car, the Dodge Challenger SRT8 392.

The first official trailer of the pulse-pounding thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles, was released yesterday. Gyllenhaal lost about 20 pounds for this movie and by all means he looks just perfect playing Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism. Problem is, pretty soon, in his ceaseless search for footage, Lou becomes the star of his own story.

Anyway, as you’ll observe in the trailer below, Lou is driving a Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, which is probably the best muscle car you’d want to own when you have to go fast and still look powerful. In real life, the 2011 model is available with either the standard five-speed automatic transmission with Auto Stick or an available Tremac TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission that was first offered on the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10.

Point is, this car will definitely turn heads where ever you’re driving. It packs a 470 horsepower engine that develops 470 lb-ft of torque and hits the 60 mph (96 km/h) mark in 4 seconds. This little beast is strong, fast and looks even cooler, which means we can’t wait to see the movie.

Update: It turns out our reader was right and the car in question really is the earlier SRT8 6.1. We thought it was only natural for the crew to use the newest version of the car in the movie, but it seems we were wrong. Thanks for the heads up guys!
