Jaguar said earlier that it intends to showcase the first car commissioned by the Special Operations branch at this year’s Goodwood festival starting this weekend. Well, just in case you won’t be able to attend the event, here’s the special car in a whole new batch of photos as it just leaked over the internet.
Russian car-photos website Autowp just updated its Jaguar database, silently uploading the new model’s official gallery under the name “F-Type Project 7 2014” which looks to be the production version of the original Project 7 concept, which also debuted last year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and, coincidence or not, it also got leaked before the main event.
As with the concept, the new car is build on the F-Type model and takes inspiration from the famous Jaguar D-type racecar, featuring no roof, an aerodynamic hump just behind the driver that also acts as a rollover protection as well as several other racing body components.
The production version pictured here however replaced the tiny rearview mirrors from the concept with road-worthy ones and also adds a carbon fiber rollover hoop for the passenger. The roadster is also left-hand drive now and comes in the classic British Green color to put an emphasize on its glorious racing past, having won seven Le Mans editions between 1951 and 1990.
No words on the engine in this gorgeous track demon, but it will probably retain the 5-liter V8 engine mounted in the first concept, producing 550 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. However, the photo gallery posted by the source has a "Produced in 250 copies" label next to the car's name, which might come in handy if you already want to put a preorder on this beauty.
