British automaker Jaguar is getting ready to join the big feast at the SUV crossover market with Range Rover Evoque-based vehicle. Dubbed XQ or Q-Type and rumored to arrive as a production model in 2016, the company’s first crossover could make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
According to Auto Week, the future Jaguar-badge SUV will be showcased in Germany next month, along with a sedan developed to rival BMW’s successful 3 Series model. While the British are still mum on details, word has it the XQ will share powertrain technology with the Range Rover Evoque, so expect a range of inline-four engines, while the range-topping version could receive a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 powerplant.

Little else is known about the upcoming Jaguar XQ (Q-Type), but we should find out more at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
