We’ve already shown you the first leaked image of the Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake and now it’s time to go into this station wagon’s depths, with Jaguar fully revealing the model ahead of its Geneva debut.
The Sportbrake basically follows the XFR-S sedan’s story, treating us with a pumped-up version of Jaguar’s 5.0-liter supercharged V8. The unit delivers 550 PS (542 BHP) and 680 Nm (lb-ft), a boost of 40 PS and 55 Nm over the XFR Sportbrake. The muscle gain comes thanks to intake and exhaust modifications, all governed by fresh ECU software.

The V8 unit works with a ZF eight-speed automatic, which features Jaguar’s Quickshift implementation. As a result, the Sportbrake need 4.6 seconds to cover the 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint, while it needs 4.8 seconds to play the 0-100 km/h game. As for the top speed, this is electronically limited at 186 mph (300 km/h).

While some may argue about the limitation, this is still enough to allow the Jaguar to top the standard (read: without the various packages) 155 mph (250 km/h) rivals such as the Audi RS6 Avant and Mercedes E63 AMG T-Model. You can think about this when you’re stuffing the luggage compartment with your stuff - the boot offers between 550 and 1,675 liters, depending on how many seats you want to use.

The hot estate asks for 12.7 liters of petrol for each 100 kilometers covered (22.2 UK mpg or 18.4 US mpg), while CO2 emissions sit at 297 g/km.

As far as the handling is concerned, Jaguar explains the changes they’ve had to make compared to the XFR-S saloon. The Sportbrake’s rear suspension features modified spring rates and a different tune for the adaptive dampers. What’s more, for those moments when you really let the V8 show its torquey nature, the engineers recalibrated the active electronic rear differential, as well as the Dynamic Stability Control.

The XFR-S body kit doesn’t just let others know your Jag jas been to the gym, it also reduces lift compared to the standard Sportbrake. The car rides on 20-inch alloy wheels shod in Pirelli tires. The rubber has been developed specifically for the XFR-S Sportbrake, measuring 265/35 up front and 295/30 at the back.

Jaguar introduced the XFR-S Sportbrake as part of its 2015 XF range, which will be available to order from April 1st this year. The go-fast family vehicle comes with a starting price of GBP82,495 in the UK (EUR100,150 or USD137,600 at the current exchange rates).
