Jaguar XF, the 2009 Best Executive Car

The 2009 Fleet World Honours competition has decided which of today's vehicles can be named Best Executive Car for 2009. The title went the the Jaguar XF and got its trophy at the Royal Automobile Club.

The awards are judged by a panel of experts representing the leasing industry, fleet managers and motoring journalists. The judging panel was headed by George Emmerson, who has managed fleets at IBM, NHBC and Black Horse Agencies. To qualify for the trophy, the panel considered residual values, maintenance costs, reliability, driver appeal and manufacturer back-up.

We now have a fantastic new 3.0l diesel engine which has been critically acclaimed for its looks and superb driving experience. When combining this with strong residual values, competitive pricing and a wide range of standard specification, the XF really is a great product for the corporate customer,” Geoff Cousins, UK Managing Director of Jaguar Cars said upon receiving the award.

The engine Cousins makes reference to the one introduced in December last year. This engine delivers a maximum torque of 600 Nm, with top speed rated at 155 mph (nearly 250 km/h). The car is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds, from 50 to 70 mph in 3.2 seconds, offering an average fuel economy of 42 mpg (5.6l/100 km). Jaguar says this is 12 percent better and 1.8 seconds faster than the previous 2.7l V6 diesel engine.

"Ride and handling combine sportiness with refinement - and equipment levels are generous. The Jaguar XF brings traditional British individuality and style to a market segment dominated mainly by products from the German premium manufacturers - and it brings the same aura to the executive slots in the company car park. Increasingly important from the fleet perspective is that residuals are good too,” Ken Rogers from Fleet World added.
