British manufacturer Jaguar just presented the first ever police spec Jaguar XF. The car is already being raced on the UK roads, even without do cause, by the British police who are now assessing the vehicle's law enforcement potential.
“Police forces are looking for vehicles that represent value for money, have good environmental credentials and deliver the power and performance required of a pursuit vehicle,” Geoff Cousins, UK Managing Director for Jaguar Cars said.
To enter the ranks, the Jaguar XF Diesel S features a 3.0l Diesel S engine, developing 275 horsepower. It is boosted by parallel sequential turbocharger system, delivering high torque throughout the entire rev range.
“We hope that with this amount of torque on tap - and a 0-60mph time of 5.9 seconds, we will meet and exceed the exacting standards of any Police Officer driving this car,” Cousins added.
The police officer, or should we say the police themselves, should be also be pleased about the fuel consumption rating of the police designed Jaguar. Figures show a 42 mpg (6.7l/100 km) fuel economy, in normal driving conditions. High speed chases will not be very harmful to the environment, as "only" 179g of CO2 will be released into the air every kilometer.
