Jaguar X-Type Successor and Crossover - New Details

Not all that’s made in Britain is made of gold. Just look at Lotus and how badly they are coping right now, and don’t give us that stuff about them being an engineering firm, we only care about making cars.

Jaguar has also had a troubled past, as many people criticized the company in recent years for cutting corners to make their cars cheaper. But steadily, the Ford parts disappeared and the panel lines got better and better.

Now, the company is getting ready to launch a brand new sportscar that’s getting everybody excited, combining elements from the company’s heritage and a new powertrain that’s all about going forward.

The next car on Jaguar’s launch schedule is a limited production run of the C-X75 Concept, offering a supercharged and turbocharged 1.6-liter engine as well as two electric motors for a combined figure in the region of 500 hp. This car will arrive in 2013 and should cost £700,000 ($1.1 million or €880,000).

A year after that, in 2014, Jaguar could launch a redesigned XK coupe and roadster, which should be bigger and more luxurious than the current one in order to make room for the F-Type. The same year, they will introduce an all-new XF.

Only after these core models are done, Jaguar will finally launch the new entry-level sedan to replace the old X-Type, together with a still unnamed crossover. The sedan will rival the 3-Series and Audi A4, and will be offered as a wagon. The crossover will rival Audi’s Q5 and should use aluminum to save weight.
