Jaguar Working on Crossover SUV

Jaguar is one of the companies that are looking to expand its product lineup in the near future and the addition of a crossover SUV to the brand's lineup is the first thing to do. Of course, not much is known about the future Jaguar crossover, but the company intends to add new models to the range that would change the sedan-based image of the British manufacturer.

According to a report by Autocar citing inside sources from within Jaguar, boss Adrian Hallmark has already confirmed plans for a crossover, while also emphasizing that four-wheel drive sedans will be used by the company to consolidate its position in the United States and in certain markets in Europe.

“We need a crossover and we need to stop being a saloon-based company,” he was quoted as saying by the source.

Furthermore, Hallmark also revealed that Jaguar is making the final touches to an estate XF that is expected to represent a fifth of the overall sales recorded by the XF range.

Voices familiar with the matter are claiming however that the future Jaguar XF, in sedan form, will hit the market in 2015, obviously with a lot of new things outside, inside and under the hood.

The vehicle will follow Jaguar’s Premium Lightweight Architecture, which will be used for all future cars belonging to the company. The aluminum construction concept, which was introduced on the XJ model, will make wonders for the future XF, keeping the weight down and thus increasing all-round performance and making the car more fuel-efficient.
