Jaguar Will Replace R-S Badge with SVR

Prepare to say goodbye to the R-S badge Jaguar lovers as the company will replace it with the SVR one in the near future. Speaking to Dutch news outlet, Autovisie, John Edwards, the chief of Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations division confirmed the rumors that have been going online for quite some time now.

At the moment, the SVR moniker doesn’t necessarily mean a lot, unlike the R-S that has been glued to the most hardcore models from Jaguar for quite some time. However, starting with the Range Rover Sport SVR model things are about to change. Think of it as a trailblazer.

In the near future, all cars wearing the SVR badge will be improved not only under the bonnet but also with a holistic approach that includes chassis modifications, beefier brakes and a harder suspension to keep things in check.

Every Jaguar R-S version will change its name in the future to reflect the new philosophy. There will be a new F-Type coupe model that is supposedly going to be even more powerful than the V8 R that reigns king at the moment.

Originally, the media thought it was going to be named R-S in the traditional Jaguar style but in light of this new info, it’s pretty obvious that the SVR moniker will be used.

It will also be using the 5-liter supercharged V8 engine but it will have more than 550 HP at its disposal as well as an overall improved chassis (and yes, we’re including the aforementioned brakes and suspension in the mix here). The current R model in its AWD guise will do 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.1 seconds. The SVR alternative should go under 4 seconds.
