Heritage runs through the Leaping Cat’s veins. Racing pedigree is another focal point of Jaguar’s automotive DNA. For these reasons alone, the automaker’s 2015 Mille Miglia entry needs no further explanation.
Before the Coventry-based manufacturer lines up for the Italian open-road endurance race, engineers and participants alike prepared the old-timer vehicles by putting them through their paces in rainy Scotland.

In the adjacent video, you’ll find out how the caretakers of these all-time favorites have dealt with the shortened version of the Miglia. Other than the jaw-dropping shots and exhaust sounds of those glorious Jaguar C- and D-Type Le Mans racers, Ian Callum, supermodel David Gandy and chef James Martin are featured as well.

To put it simply, the Mini Miglia in Scotland gave Jag’s Heritage team drivers a small taste of what a time trial race is all about. Charlie Boorman also participated in the 100-mile (160 kilometers) training course behind the wheel of a Mk VII saloon. Cars and drivers will next meet on the start line in Brescia on May 14th, in order to tackle 1,000 miles through Italy’s best public roads.

Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum, who piloted an Ecurie Ecosse Jaguar D-type on the Mini Miglia, said: “Driving these cars in this situation is just the most wonderful thing in the world. It is one of the highest highs I can possibly imagine.”

Now who can argue with that when you enter the Miglia with a lineup consisting of 3 C-Types, 3 D-Types, an XK120, an XK140 and a MK VII? You can keep up with Jaguar’s 2015 Mille Miglia efforts by following the #JaguarMille hashtag and these Twitter profiles throughout May 17th:
