According to their press release, for the first time in JLR history, the company has achieved over 100,000 registrations in the United Kingdom. We must admit this came as a bit of a surprise to us since the UK is a market with generous volumes and one would expect a domestic manufacturer to have achieved this milestone sooner.

Thanks to the 22% growth in the domestic market in 2015 compared to the previous year, the United Kingdom has become JLR’s number one market. The company enjoyed such a growth thanks to the introduction of the Land Rover Discovery Sport and the addition of the Jaguar XF and XE in its portfolio.

The JLR fleet and business sales also registered an impressive 52% growth in 2015 over 2014. The Land Rover range had a 19% increase in registrations over 2014 while the Jaguar range’s registrations grew by 30%.

Land Rover registrations in the UK in 2015 rose to an all-time high of 76,837 units, while Jaguar registrations increased to 23,950 cars in the same territory. The British company owned by India’s Tata Motors expects figures to grow further in 2016 and states that last year’s results were so good thanks to the new Ingenium engine family and their commitment to fleet and business operations.

Meanwhile, the new car sales in the United Kingdom reached an all-time high in 2015. According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, around 2.63 million new vehicles were registered last year in the UK. Thanks to that result, the country recorded its fourth consecutive year of growth.

The S.M.M.T. considers that special deals, cheap finance options, and a robust consumer confidence pushed sales to this impressive level.

December 2015 had the best results ever recorded in the country for this month while the entire year managed to surpass the results in the UK’s previous all-time best, the year 2003. Back then, 2.58 million new cars were sold in the country. For the seventh year in a row, the Ford Fiesta was the UK's best-selling new car.
