Jaguar Land Rover Debuts 24-Hour Production at Halewood Plant

Jaguar Land Rover today announced that, for the first time in the 50-year history of its Halewood plant, its 4,500 people workforce will work around the clock in order to meet the high global demand for the Range Rover Evoque.

The Evoque, which was launched in July last year, managed to achieve sales of 88,000 units in over 170 markets so far. Back in March 2012, Jaguar Land Rover announced that it will start 24 hour production at Halewood and created 1,000 new jobs for production operators, supervisors and engineers. The factory is starting a new shift, which is set to begin at 21:30 local time this weekend. The factory will manufacture both the Evoque and the refreshed Land Rover Freelander 2.

“Our new recruits have worked hard during their assessments and extensive induction training. Many have also worked a number of trial night shifts during July, to ensure we get off to a great start today. I am delighted to welcome our new colleagues as they come on-board to help us meet customer demand for the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Freelander,” said Halewood Operations Director, Richard Else.
