Not too long ago, we told you that manual transmission sales in the US are on the rise. However, back then we weren’t all that excited by the news, mainly due to the fact that the sales increase was fueled by affordable vehicles that come with manuals.
Well, we are hungry for musclucar beasts with manuals that can handle quite a lot of torque, which is why we are more than happy to tell you that a new creature of this kind is coming. We are talking about the Jaguar F-Type, which will offer a manual gearbox as an optional feature. The vehicle will make its debut at the Paris Auto Show next month, where it will be launched with an eight-speed automatic.
Thus, the manual will arrive later in the F-Type’s lifecycle and it will probably only be available with certain powerplants. We’re expecting the 5.0-liter V8 engine to get the manual and the F-Type R version you see spied above is also likely to receive a stick shift.
autoevolution will be attending the Paris Motor Show 2012, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
