Jaguar may have already brought us the F-Type Roadster and Coupe, with enough engine options to please, but the saga is far from over. The next episode will see the car comapny make changes outside the engine, with an F-Type having recently been spied lapping the Nurburgring in manual gearbox fashion.
The footage below, or rather its soundtrack, easily demonstrates the guy manhandling the F-Type V6 S on the Nordschleife is doing the three-pedal dance. The rumor mill had already stated this, so the news doesn’t exactly comes as a surprise.
Since Jaguar already has a brilliant interpretation of the ZF 8HP eight-speed automatic transmission, it’s good to see a manual being offered as an option. Still, given the character of the car, we don’t necessarily see the presence of a clutch as perfectly fitting. This is the kind of tail-happy machine, as opposed to a precision instrument where the manual would only add more involvement.
In other words, it’s nice to have a broader list of choices, but we don’t really feel this one. And speaking of options, Jaguar will also introduce four-wheel drive on the F-Type.
The current setup of the car, in any of its forms, means you can’t enjoy it in the rain, let alone snow, without taking the risks to a sky-high level. Well, this is where the all-wheel drive will step in.
Some may be put away by the idea of such a feline using all four paws for traction, but just look at the Porsche 911, where the heavy rear bias of the AWD makes the car immensely rewarding to drive. There are no technical details available at the moment, but expect the AWD on the F-Type to display such a serious RWD bias.
