2014 will remain known as the year of the recalls for most of us and major automakers. GM is still leading the pack with 80 campaigns so far this year, but smaller automakers seem to join too. Jaguar is the latest and, sadly, its newest recall involves our beloved F-Type.
A car so beautiful and driver-oriented like the F-Type can apparently be flawed right from the factory, as Jaguar is calling back some models destined for the US market to fix two issues.

The first problem is said to occur in 7,079 F-Type units made between August 31st 2012 to October 22nd, 2014, where the seatbelt harness connector linking the Seatbelt Tensioner Sensor to the Occupant Classification Sensor Control Module may have not been correctly wired. This means the passenger airbag could still be active even if a child or smaller adult is occupying the seat, increasing risk of injury.

Aaand there are 2 more models affected...

The other problem affects 272 Jaguars (F-Types made between August 25th, 2014 to September 12, 2014 / XF models manufactured between September 3rd, 2014 and September 12th, 2014 / XJs made from August 21st, 2014 to September 11th, 2014) and involves loose Front End Accessory Drive belts, Power Assisted Steering pump pulley and even the battery positive cables of the alternator.

If the accessory drive belt goes bad, the car will lose power steering and if the battery positive cable loosens, it will increase the risk of an electrical short circuit.

Jaguar will notify the owners of the affected vehicles, who will be instructed to take them to an authorized dealership and remedy the problems free of charge. The first recall (numbered J047) should start January 5th, 2015, while the second (J044) is underway.
