The Jaguar F-Type Project 7 made its stunning debut last weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, but the 575-hp drop-top kitty will get to stretch its legs this weekend in front of the public at the Le Mans Classic. The limited-production F-Type Project 7 will run demonstration laps to help celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Jaguar D-type.
On the track, the Jaguar F-Type Project 7 will be joined by all-new F-Type Coupe R as well as the first-ever example of the D-type. The event runs from July 4 through July 6, and it will be broken into six grids of cars that will each celebrate a specific era of Le Mans history. The F-Type Project 7 will be the spectator entertainment between the Grid 2 qualifying and racing sessions. Grid 2 action will focus on Le Mans history from 1949-1956, and it will feature a pair of D-types driven by the likes of Andy Wallace, 1988 Jaguar Le Mans winner, as well as Richard Meaden and Chris Harris.
Jaguar has already confirmed that the F-Type Project 7 would be going into production, but the car’s volume would be limited to just 250 units. Created by the new Jaguar Special Operations team, the F-Type Project 7 has a higher-output engine than the F-Type Convertible, which will help it carry the title of fastest and most powerful production Jaguar to date. Jaguar adds to the F-Type’s aluminum body with numerous carbon fiber aero add-ons the give this car 177 percent better downforce than the F-Type Convertible. All 250 of these F-Type Project 7s will be built by Jaguar Special Operations in a new dedicated facility located in the West Midlands.

Jaguar promises to release more details about these changes later in the summer, and the car will go on sale in both markets sometime during the middle of next year.
