We searched high and low, but couldn't find an official press release from Jaguar confirming that the F-Pace has indeed entered production. Yet here it is, the very first model to roll off the line, or "Job Number 1. 2016," as the Brits put it.
We found this photo on the Twitter stream of a UK dealer. However, it has been posted in a couple of other places. From what we gather, this was a private event held on January 24, and an official release will follow later this week, not that we care anymore.

Models that look production-ready have been around in the US since late December. Either those are pre-production or Jaguar asked Santa to make a secret stash.

The F-Pace is not only the first job Jaguar has for 2016 but it's also the most important. From the enthusiasm the company has been drumming up in the US, it's clear that a lot is riding on the success of this first crossover.

Based on the front fascia of this bad boy, we think it's got the R-Sport trim level, but it could be wrong. It certainly isn't the S, as that one has an obvious S on the grille.

The funny thing is that the exterior paint color is almost certainly Italian Racing Red. Since this is a British sports crossover, we would have expected green with a patriotic Union Jack, but that may have been a little too predictable.

Should the competition be worried? Yes, especially Audi. The F-Pace is already available for order with a 2-liter diesel from the new Ingenium family, plus a 3-liter that produces 300 hp. But the one that has everyone talking is the S model with a supercharged 3.0L V6 it has borrowed from the F-Type. It revs hard and will even perform a few shenanigans... if that's your thing.
