Jaguar E-Type Brings Jason Statham to The Mechanic Premiere

At the recent premiere of The Mechanic, which took place at the Las Vegas Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino last month, one could not tell who was the star of the red carpet: Jason Statham or the iconic Jaguar E-Type in which the actor made his entrance.

The Regency Red E-Type arrived at the casino’s grand marquee after a run down The Strip. The classic model choice was not made by chance, as the E-Type was specifically cast in the film.

According to interactivejaguar.com, the Series II E-Type Fixed Head Coupe, owned by Jaguar Clubs of North America member Bill Streitenberger, was there to represent the Series I E-Type FHC that appears in the movie.

As you can see in the adjacent image, both the car and the highly appreciated actor look sharp, forming a pair that has no way to fail. We’ll remind you that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the iconic Jaguar E-Type.

The Mechanic is director Simon West's New Orleans-shot remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson hitman film, telling the story of an elite assassin (Statham) takes on an apprentice (Foster) who has a connection to one of his earlier targets.

What few of you know is that before becoming an actor, Statham was a member of Britain’s National Diving Squad, and ranked 12th in the world in 1992. He also sold perfume and jewelry on the street, which is how he met writer-director Guy Ritchie and won the lead in 1998′s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
