Now that the Jaguar F-Type Coupe has landed in LA, bringing the new 550 HP R version to the F-Type range, it’s time to look ahead at some even more extreme versions of the car.
Ian Callum, the man who leads Jaguar’s design offensive, has hinted for autocar that the company is looking to build RS and perhaps RS GT versions of the F-Type
"Our obligation is to maximize the opportunity in the car in every direction," Callum said. "It is clear that the platform is very capable. Whatever the powertrain, the body will work with it."
This makes full sense, since Jaguar previously announced that its future plans would include a multitude of such special editions for all its models. We’ve already seen the scheme being used on the Jaguar XK range, for example, so now it is time for the new F-Type to take center stage.
Jaguar’s former strategies have seen the automaker introduce performance models at a very short distance, but now the company wants to use the aforementioned new scheme. Perhaps they’ve learner a thing or two from Porsche, who is king in the world of special editions, especially when it comes to the 911.
Meanwhile, the adjacent rendering has emerged, offering us a hint on how a Jaguar F-Type Coupe RS could look like.
