Jaguar Camos Competitors to Promote 2015 XE Sedan

Spy photographers get paid big dollars to shoot to future products, and while most automakers try to hide their future prototypes, Jaguar wants as many people as possible to see its latest camouflaged cars. At first glance, these images posted on bimertoday.de might appear to be spy shots of an upcoming BMW 3 Series model, but in reality, they’re part of a cunning new strategy that Jaguar has unleashed on Germany to increase awareness for the all-new Jaguar XE.

While camouflage allows automakers to test vehicles in broad daylight without giving too many details of the car away, the materials and patterns attempting to trick the eye do an equally good job of attracting attention. In this case, Jaguar has wrapped a 3 Series in BMW’s familiar swirly camo giving the casual observer and photographer the idea that this is new facelifted design for the BMW.

Of course, it’s not common for a website to be plastered on the side of a prototype, and when interested parties visit the site (der-neue.com), they’ll find that it’s a landing page for the 2015 Jaguar XE. The article states that Jaguar is performing similar stunts with camouflaged Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class models as well.

The 2015 Jaguar XE will get a global debut on September 8th giving Jaguar a sporty sedan to compete against its aforementioned rivals. European customers will get first crack at the XE next year, while North American buyers have to wait until 2016. In a recent tease of the XE, Jaguar revealed some of the sedan’s sportier details like its aluminum suspension components, electric power steering and confirmed that it will be powered by Jaguar Land Rover’s future Ingenium gas and diesel engines.
