Jaguar C-X75 May Not Enter Production After All

The a production version of the Jaguar C-X75 had been deemed a sure thing for production, following the very positive reception of the concept, yet now, officials are not so sure. Apparently, it all depends on the success of its ingenious hybrid powertrain.

According to Jaguar global brand director, Adrian Hallmark, who recently spoke with autocar.co.uk, the company is very close to installing the powertrain in a prototype vehicle, for testing purposes. “This part of the development is absolutely unknown [ . . . ] We want to do it, but until we know the technology [will work] we cannot be clear," said Hallmark.

The powertrain in question features a 1.6-liter turbocharged and supercharged engine, which is aided by two electric motors, and it would enable the Jag supercar to sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in around three seconds, and easily exceed 200 mph or 320 km/h. The electric motors and onboard battery pack would also allow it to travel on electricity alone for around 60 km (37 miles).
