Jacques Villeneuve Confirms Divorce from Johanna

While still looking for a Formula One seat, former F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve today announced that he is no longer married. He stressed the fact that he is now a divorcee, and not separated from former wife Johanna, as rumored in the Canadian media in recent weeks.

I've been divorced for a month. We are divorced, not separated. I want to be precise,” insisted Villeneuve in an interview with Sun Media.

The Canadian driver married Parisienne girlfriend Johanna Martinez on May 29, 2006, in Switzerland. Villeneuve became father in November the same year, when his first son Jules was born. A year later, in December, their second son Jonas was born.

Before marrying Johanna, the former Williams and BMW Sauber driver was first engaged with Danii Minogue – in the late '90s – and American ballerina Ellen Green.

Switching to his Formula One focus, however, Villeneuve expressed his enthusiasm when hearing that Canada will once again be part of the sport starting 2010, and admits he is still looking to land an F1 deal for next year.

I have to prioritize – my kids, who love cars like their dad, and finding myself a formula one car for the next season. I'm putting all of my energy into that. It's harder than I thought. But I'm confident that I'll have a car for the return of the grand prix to Montreal,” concluded the Canadian driver.

Although he was linked with a potential drive with newly-entrants US Grand Prix Engineering, both parties have dismissed all such allegations. Aside from the Charlotte-based team, there are 2 more outfits that are yet to announce their drivers' lineup for next year, both newcomers: Manor Grand Prix and Campos Grand Prix.
