Jack Roush Injured in Plane Crash

Automotive icon Jack Roush, co-owner of Roush Fenway Racing and chairman of Roush Enterprises, has been hospitalized following a plane crash which occurred at the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

According to the information available so far, Roush suffered injuries which are not posing a threat to his life. Dr. Kevin Wasco, the attending physician, says the tycoon is in serious, but stable condition.

What is known so far is that Roush was on his way to the annual EAA AirVenture show which is being held at the Wittman Regional Airport. Roush's plane, a Hawker Beechcraft Premier jet, crashed while landing.

According to, Roush's jet was landing on the north-south runway of the airport when it flew over the runway, came back down and skidded to a stop. Roush Fenway Racing president Geoff Smith said the NASCAR team owner walked out of the plane on his own two feet.

Additional information about the incident and its consequences to be announced later in the day. The incident is investigated by National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials, already on site for the air show.

The Hawker Beechcraft Premier is a twin engine jet, and is one of the fastest light jets available. It is capable of traveling 1,000 nautical miles at a cruise speed of 500 miles–per–hour. The engines powering it are Williams–Rolls FJ44–2A engines, which deliver 4,600 pounds of thrust.

The manufacturer of the jet advertises the aircraft as being capable of landing on short runways. The Wittman Regional Airport's longest runway is 8,000-feet long (2.4 km).
