Iveco Reveals the New Daily for 2014. Say It's 80% Redesigned

The Iveco Daily family has been a firm favorite among hard-working professional drivers since its launch in 1978. In that time, it's been used as an ambulance, police van, dump truck and even as an army vehicle. For 2014, the range has been completely revised by the arrival of the third all-new generation.

The 2014 Daily looks all-new both inside and out. While 80% of components have been redesigned, the ladder frame chassis structure has been carried over. There is a new QUAD-LEAF front suspension system for models up to 3.5 tons and a new rear suspension system for all two-wheel drive Daily models. Single-wheel models now have a lowered height of the loading platform, which sits 55mm closer to the ground. This not only makes work easier, but improves the driving characteristics. Considering single-wheelers are mostly used on long journeys, this is a welcomed change.

The company claims all upgrades have been made for better control and carrying capacity. Inside the cabin, Iveco claims it's reduced road and tire noise and improved the ergonomics. Steering-wheel mounted controls for the music and phone have been added, as well as a large infotainment screen and three car-like chromed climate control knobs.

The Iveco New Daily will be offered as both a van and a Chassis Cab with 3.5 and 7 ton ratings and flat tay on the back. There's also a Minibus version, soon to be joined by a motor home. Even the regular van version has a lot of diversity, with the company announcing new 18 and 20 m3 models (offering the best load space in their category) and the 10.8 m3 version (the best in its category for load efficiency, an indicator that measures the ratio between the length of the load compartment and the total length of the vehicle), the Turin manufacturer says.

New Euro 6 engines are available and promise to deliver a 5% increase in fuel efficiency. Production is taking place at two different factories, in Spain and Italy, both of which have been recently updated.
