When Enzo Ferrari completed his final race as a driver at the Circuito Tre Province, back in 1931, little did he know that the company he would found 16 years later will become one of the greatest sportscar maker in the world. Yet, power and speed come with some responsibilities that Italians still seem to find hard to take. At least that is what a recent survey shows.
Italians are Europe’s most reckless drivers, while Greeks are seen as the rudest ones on the Old Continent. At least that is what people think around the old continent.
The survey was released on Thursday by French motorway operator Vinci. Out of the 10,000 people who were asked, 38% consider the Italians are driving dangerously, a figure that reached even bigger numbers when the respondents were Italians, 58% to be precise.
Greeks are not that far of, since 20 percent of those surveyed declared them the most irresponsible motorists. It’s not only driving reckless with the Greeks, however, it appears they also like to swear a lot. And this is something they admit themselves, since 74% of Greeks agreed to such behaviour, as opposed to 56% of the Europeans.
Believe it or not, according to the survey, Swedes turned out to be the most responsible European drivers, cited as such by 37% of respondents. Germans (27%), British and Dutch (11% both) drivers follow the line.
According to Hurriyet Daily News, the responders were drawn from 10 different European countries as follows: Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden.
To be honest, it’s quite hard to generalize, but in our experience the big differences are between continents rather than neighboring countries, take Europe and Russia or Asia and US, still the survey was worth mentioning.
