Italian Media Blames Ferrari for Lack of Ideas

If the guys at Ferrari are yet to lose hope for the current Formula 1 campaign, despite the early woes that have hampered their car's performances, part of the Italian media has already given up on the 2011 honors.

According to Italy's Autosprint magazine, the problems experienced by the Scuderia this year are caused by their lack of imagination when it comes to car design. Better said, the technical masterminds working for the Prancing Horse did not come up with one innovative idea when drawing the 150 Italia on paper.

While rivals Red Bull and McLaren Mercedes – not to mention Lotus Renault GP – have pushed the boundaries of the 2011 technical regulations to create highly competitive challengers, Ferrari were criticized for taking a conservative approach in the design room. And the worse thing about it is that these issues they have been confronted with in the first 3 races of 2011 will prove permanent, rather than temporary.

When was the last time another team took advantage of a Ferrari development?” sounded the rhetoric question coming from Autosprint. “It was 2008, when the Ferrari had the hole in the nose. Since then, no one has even tried to emulate Ferrari's ideas.”

Recent rumors have suggested that Ferrari will temporarily move the aerodynamic development of their car and car parts to Cologne, where they'll make use of former F1 team Toyota's wind tunnel, due to a current recalibration of the Maranello facility.
