We’re pretty sure you all know the guys from Italdesign Giugiaro but if by any chance you don’t, we’re talking about a design and engineering company that has finally unveiled its new Clipper concept at the Geneva Motor Show.
We’re talking about an interesting vehicle, an MPV that is based on Volkswagen’s MQB platform and features a rather unconventional design. Starting with the exterior, one will be able to notice that this particular concept vehicle incorporates butterfly front doors and at the same time gull-wing rear doors that slightly reminds of the “Back to the Future” Movie and the famous DeLorean DMC-12 model.

Moving on to the styling, the front of the Clipper is relatively smooth, with a somewhat sleek lines, a bit of edginess being added by the small vents that provide cooling air for the car’s batteries.

Concerning the interior, we’re talking about six seats that have been divided into three rows, the cabin incorporating a range of advanced digital displays as well as touch screens. If by any chance you’re into movies and games, the Clipper has Apple iPad Mini tablets in the back of the headrests of the front as well as middle seats. More importantly, it seems the car features a Giugiaro-designed Carlink app that lets the rear passengers share documents, chat, and play games with one another. Something that will certainly be well received.

From a design point of view, the designers have used some interesting materials such as an exclusive faux suede fabric featuring a grey diamond pattern over a simple white background. Besides this, one will also be able to find a special cashmere weave that has been developed with the Lanificio Cerruti wool mill.

Enough with the design part as we’re pretty sure you’re more interested in the Clipper’s engine. Thus, we’re talking about two e 147-hp electric motors that promise a top speed of 204 km/h (127 mph.) Drivers will be able to take the light vehicle for a drive up to 540 km (335miles) without having to charge it a second time.

What can we say, the vehicle is certainly interesting and some might like it while other might find it rathe unappealing. Whatever might be the case, this could be a window into the future of suburban vehicles.
