Brammo's efforts are starting to pay off as the American Federation of Motorcyclists (AFM) agreed to allow electric bikes to compete in the same races and classes with the internal combustion engine bikes (ICE). After seeing FIM and TTXGP shaking hands earlier and laying the foundation of what could develop into an "eMotoGP", this piece of news makes things even better.
Brian Wismann, Brammo's Director of Product Development thinks it will be extremely interesting to pit the 100 years of ICE bikes manufacturers such as Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha or Suzuki have against the fairly recent electric racing bike technology.

The Brammo bikes will be admitted to race in the existing AFM classes and they will be grouped by the power-to-weight factor, and to encourage riders to own and race their Empulse R, RR or TTX machines, the manufacturer will also offer money prizes, but their exact amount was not disclosed.
  • The Brammo Empulse R and TTX are homologated for the following classes:
  • 250 Superbike
  • 500 Twins
  • 450 Superbike
  • Clubman Lightweight
  • Formula 40 Lightweight
  • Formula AFemme
  • Formual 50
The Brammo Empulse RR is homologated for the following classes:
  • Formula 1
  • Formula Pacific
  • Clubman Middleweight
  • Formula 40 Middleweight
  • Formula AFemme
  • Formula 50
  • 750 Superbike.
