Is This Rider Blind or Stupid?

After showing you the amateur rider in Russia that can’t even take a turn, we move on to another one in Crimea today, who probably has the slowest reaction time we’ve ever seen. Or maybe he’s partly blind... Who knows?

Riding in the city could be exhausting for beginner riders, especially at rush hours. But that’s not the case with this video, though. The incident was captured by one of the many dashboard cameras drivers use in the area, and it looks like the traffic was not even close to being busy.

So, as the camera car rolls down the street, it encounters a pedestrian crossing where it stops safely to let an elderly woman cross the street. So does an oncoming green Ford Fiesta, but the motorcyclist riding behind had almost no reaction to what was happening.

Not sure what was going on in his mind, but when a car ahead stops in front of a pedestrian crossing, that means someone is about to cross the street, and you have to stop too. The rider was clearly not aware of the situation as he reacted way too late to come to a complete stop.

Was the car coming from a street on his right distracted him from what was happening ahead? Were the Fiesta’s brake lights out and the rider didn’t get noticed about its intention to stop? We have no clue, but apparently, the rider wasn’t quite going the speed limit there.

This, along with improper braking skills might explain why he ended up slamming into the back of the hatchback. Target fixation sure has to be blamed too, as there was enough room to swerve left a bit and get past the stopped car.

Whatever the case, the video is another example for motorcyclists out there to constantly scan the road ahead and always look for an “escape option” in case of something goes wrong.
