Is This Chevrolet Camaro "Peugeot" a Better Design?

Like so many of you car gals and guys out there, we love the current Chevrolet Camaro, but we have to ask ourselves - is its maker doing all it can to keep the muscle car competitive? Well, the rendering we have here attempts to tell us that the answer is negative, at least as far as the styling is concerned.

As dictated by the name of the digital label behind the stunt (Car Front Swaps), the images see the Chevy borrow the face of another machine, namely the current Peugeot 508.

Sure, the front end of the French mid-size sedan shows a dynamic design, matching the rest of the four-door's exterior, but does this pixel mix really look better than the actual Camaro?

Of course, the answer depends on the enthusiasts behind it. Nevertheless, we'll remind you that, for the 2019 model year, most of the Camaro range received a facelift that saw the bar between the upper and the lower grilles adopt a black finish and display the golden bowtie. After being criticized by both fans and journalists, the design was addressed via the 2020 facelift: the Chevy logo returned to the upper grille, while the bar was once again finished in the color of the car.

Even so, Camaro sales have been falling behind those of the Mustang and the aging Challenger, while rumors about GM putting the badge to sleep after the 2022/2023 model year, which refuse to go away, certainly don't help.

It's also worth mentioning that, for the 2021 model year, California and Washington are banning sales of the Camaro SS, 1LE, and ZL1 due to their brake pads failing to meet new state legislation. And General Motors has stated that it will only be able to update the said parts for the 2022MY cars, relying on the vehicles that are already on dealer lots meanwhile.

Now, while the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette is enough proof that the carmaker has all the right ingredients for a successful go-fast recipe, here's hoping the company is willing to use these to revitalize its iconic muscle badge.
