While Mark Webber is having his 2015 Porsche Cayenne Coffee in anticipation for the GTS and Turbo S models, the first was recently spied on the Nurburgring. By the looks sound of it, the Cayenne GTS facelift will switch to twin turbo V6 power.
While the Cayenne S has already ditched its naturally-aspirated 4.8-liter V8 in favor of a 420 hp incarnation of the 3.6-liter twin-turbo unit from the Macan Turbo (400 hp), we were expecting the GTS to keep the vee eight.

This would’ve brought the SUV in line with the revamped Panamera. The Panamera S has gone from the 4.8 NA V8 to a reworked version of the Macan S’ 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 (340 hp), which delivers 420 horses. At the same time, the facelifted Panamera GTS has stuck with its NA V8, delivering 440 hp.

As it turns out, we were wrong. If the spied car is indeed the 2015 Cayenne GTS, the soundtrack is a clear indication of forced induction - we’ll remind you that the massaged V8 in the pre-revamp Cayenne GTS has an unmistakable soundtrack, which is obviously missing here.

This should be the GTS, since it wouldn’t make sense for Porsche to still test one of the Cayenne models that have already been launched. Such practices are not impossible, but they are used for all-new models, while this is a facelift.

On the other hand, the German carmaker has yet to launch the revamped entry-level Cayenne, the Cayenne GTS and the Cayenne Turbo S. While the spied vehicle is too orthodox to be a Turbo S, the bold exhaust tips should indicate this isn’t the base Cayenne either. This all leaves us with the... you guessed it... GTS.

Since the 2015 Cayenne S’ 3.0-liter delivers 420 hp, we should expect 440 ponies from the Cayenne GTS. As always with this moniker, the exhaust sound will also be more vocal than in the case of the S model.

The Cayenne GTS should also bring a bit of extra spice outside the tech area and you should be prepared for stuff like new vivid colors.
