How about this hypothetical situation: you’re walking around the harbor, you know, it’s that place you run to whenever work is overwhelming. Home is too far and cigarettes don’t work anymore. Just when you finally get that one second of total zen, bang! It hits you. Instead of huge vessels and plain sea, there’s your Toyota Tacoma dangling off a ship like bait on a fishing line.
OK, maybe we went one step too far. It’s not really your truck, as good looking as it might be, yours is unfortunately retired in the barn. You’re driving a Prius now, the days when driving hundreds of miles on random trips are over. Everything is around the clock nowadays. Heck, that’s exactly why you need to take these brakes every now and then, you’re sick of keeping looking at the watch, having to do everything following a precise order.

Good. Now that we got rid of that little, old frustration, let us proceed with the story behind the picture you’re looking at above. It appears there was some sort of misunderstanding between line handlers aboard the containership MSC Ilona and those at terminal 4 in the Port of Baltimore. Things went a little fifty shades of grey and the poor, little Toyota Tacoma ended up dangling off the ship’s deck.

According to gCaptain, a website “dedicated to building an interactive community of maritime professionals”, the lineman on the pier put the tag line on the bumper of his truck to pull the line off the bollard.

After it was removed from the bollard, he backed up to untie the line, however the mate on the containership heaved around with the mooring winches before the lineman had a chance to unhook his truck”.

Luckily the man only suffered minor injuries in his struggle to bail out of his truck, however, we can’t quite say the same about the truck, that most likely was totaled.
