IS 1000 by David Huang is SEMA Showcase Winner

Tuning is a hobby for those who have the money. The more you invest in it, the better the car will be. There have been more than $100,000 invested in the 2005 Lexus IS 300 by David Huang, which apparently paid off. Dubbed IS 1000, the project has been chosen the SEMA Showcase winner.

The most important features of the vehicle are the estimated 1,000-horsepower engine (hence the "1,000" designation), custom color-shift Midnight Purple paint, custom body and framework and custom suspension. Moreover, the interior also underwent a lot of changes as well.

Highlights of the IS 1000 are listed below:

  • JDM 2004 ARISTO 2JZ-GTE w/ VVTi
  • JDM Work 20-inch VS-XX anodized-chrome with BF Goodrich KDW/TA tires
  • JDM ENDLESS rotors and calipers
  • JDM Zeal Function X’s coilovers
  • JDM HKS purple sway bars and Kansai rear strut tower bar

Another eye-catching Lexus featured at this year’s SEMA Show was the custom lime green 2010 IS 350C by Fox Marketing, based on the IS 350 hardtop convertible model. The tuners went on and fitted the 3.5-liter V6 engine modified to increase the power output from a standard 225 kW (306 hp) to 298 kW (405 hp) which is not far from a factory IS-F's 310 kW (421 hp).

At the same event, the Lexus LFA, which will built in only 500 units, each different, to meet the specific requirements of the customers, made its official North American debut.

The LFA is powered by a 4.8l V8 engine, paired with a unique six-speed Automated Sequential Gearbox (ASG) and develops a heart stopping 553 hp at 8,700 rpm and 480 Nm of torque at 6,800 rpm. Initial performance figures show it can reach 60 from a standstill in 3.7 seconds and tops at 325 km/h (202 mph).
